INCANTO LIBERTY 2026 – 11th International Gathering of Vintage Carriages, Liberty-Period Costumed Dance Exhibition
A parade of “original” vintage carriages will travel from the hippodrome to the center, with stops in the Thermal Park, in front of the Tettuccio Establishment, the La Torretta Tennis Club, and the Town Hall, competing in a tradition and elegance contest paired with the 11 UNESCO World Heritage “Great Spas of Europe” cities.
The event will be enriched by period-costumed dance performances and cultural-themed seminars.
There is a place where time seems to slow down, where the elegance of a bygone era comes back to life through art, music, carriages, clothing, and the atmospheres of the Belle Époque.
It is Montecatini Terme, and it is here that Incanto Liberty renews its appointment with the public every year.
Incanto Liberty recounts and showcases the Liberty soul of the spa town, rediscovering that extraordinary period, between the late 19th and early decades of the 20th century, when Montecatini reached the peak of its cultural, artistic, and worldly history.
A heritage made of architectures, decorations, music, dance, fashion, art, and sociability that still represents a precious part of the city’s identity today.
The 11th edition is born with the desire to continue this journey through time, transforming the city into a true Belle Époque stage. Protagonists once again will be culture and beauty, through a program capable of engaging citizens, visitors, and enthusiasts in an experience that unites memory and spectacle.
Incanto Liberty is much more than a historical reenactment. It is a cultural project that looks to the past to recount the present and enhance the future of Montecatini. Vintage carriages, clothing, costumes, dances, arts, and performances thus become tools to rediscover places and figures that helped make our city unique.
Eleven editions, a single great enchantment: illuminating the beauty of an era and making it live again in the heart of Montecatini, because Liberty is not just a style.
It is an atmosphere, a way to slow down frantic life and observe beauty as a heritage to be guarded and reinvented.
Note: In the tradition and elegance contest, the participating carriages are each paired with the 11 UNESCO World Heritage Great Spa Towns of Europe, of which Montecatini Terme is the only Italian city.
Detailed Schedule of Events:
Vintage Carriage Parades
- September 4 – 9:30 PM: Carriages and crews in period costumes will parade along Corso Roma, Viale Verdi, and Piazza D. Giusti (Tettuccio square). The nighttime parade will be preceded by period-costumed dance performances. The carriages, crews, and horses will be introduced by a technical announcer and evaluated by a quality popular jury.
- September 5 – 3:00 PM: Vintage carriages and crews will parade along Viale Verdi, continuing to Piazza D. Giusti (Tettuccio square) where they will make stops for photo shoots. Afterward, they will proceed to the thermal park where carriages and crews will perform skill, elegance, and tradition trials judged by a technical jury.
- September 6 – 4:30 PM: Parade of carriages on Viale Verdi and public demonstrations of driving skill, tradition, and elegance in front of the Tettuccio thermal establishment.
Period Costume Dances
- September 4 – 9:00 PM: Period-costumed dance performances by the Compagnia della Bizzarria d’Amore on Viale Verdi in front of the Tourism Palace.
- September 5 – 5:30 PM: Period-costumed dance performances by the Compagnia della Bizzarria d’Amore in front of the Tettuccio Thermal Establishment.
Historical-Cultural Visits
- September 6 – 4:00 PM: Guided tour in collaboration with FAI Valdinievole. The heart of the visit will be the Tettuccio thermal establishment, which is about to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
Cultural Encounters
September 5 – 11:00 AM: Cultural meeting: “Travel Notes” by Dr. Roberto Pinochi, historian of Valdinievole. A carriage travel diary, straddling two centuries. Destination: Bagni di Montecatini.
