Acqua in bocca (ma non troppo)8th ed. – “A tu per tu con la violenza” cycle – “I am the dead woman walking”
“A tu per tu con la violenza”
II cycle of meetings on combating violence against women
Review “Acqua in bocca (ma non troppo)” VIII edition
Montecatini Terme, Tettuccio Spa
November 2025 – January 2026
Montecatini Terme – Back for the 2nd year is “Acqua in bocca (ma non troppo)” a series of meetings that gives voice to people who have experienced physical, psychological, and economic mistreatment in their own skin.
The purpose of these meetings-embedded in the “Water in the Mouth but not Too Much” series-is to try to understand what mechanisms lead women to be trapped for years, sometimes decades, in violent relationships; what mechanisms are triggered to get out of them; what signs we carry with us after a violent relationship.
In addition, the meetings aim to undermine the prejudices that exist against victims, to whom there is often a tendency to attribute responsibility for the violence suffered with expressions such as, “It wouldn’t have happened to me”; “at the first slap I would have left”; “if she’s in or back in, she wanted it in the end.”
Finally, an attempt will also be made to understand what is the mindset of men-narcissistic, manipulative-who act violence on women and what are the possible paths to correct abusive behavior.
To close the cycle, in January 2026, a face-to-face meeting with the Honorable Martina Semenzato, chair of the Bicameral Inquiry on Femicide, is scheduled (date to be determined).
Given the importance of the program also comes an invitation from the mayor of Montecatini, Claudio Del Rosso to attend the meetings, a time for discussion and education: “I would like to sincerely thank Simona Peselli, editorial director of the review “Acqua in bocca (ma non troppo)” which with great commitment and professionalism keeps our city’s name high with events of the highest quality like this one. Her dedication makes Montecatini Terme a place for discussion and reflection on crucial issues such as the fight against violence against women. I invite all citizens to participate in these events especially our male children because it is from them that we must start again.” .
The meetings are led by Simona Peselli, editorial director of the “Acqua in bocca ma non troppo” review, and Ilaria Bonuccelli, journalist, author of investigative books on gender violence and criminologist.
The “Acqua in bocca ma non troppo” review has the patronage of the Region of Tuscany and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Montecatini Terme and the Region. In addition, the event is supported by Conad, FederAlberghi, Mariboutique, Sweet pastry shop, Macchini furnishings, and Friends of the City, which allow free admission to all events.
