Gianni Palagonia will be a guest at the “Acqua in bocca ma non troppo” cultural series at the Tettuccio thermal establishment in Montecatini Terme on Wednesday, September 9 at 5:00 PM.<\/h3>\n

On this occasion, alongside Salvatore Calleri, president of the Caponnetto Foundation, and Carmine Tabarro, retired State Police superintendent, he will present his latest book, “Tracce di verit\u00e0”<\/em> (Traces of Truth<\/em>).\u00a0 Gianni Palagonia will be interviewed by Simona Peselli, the series’ editorial director.<\/p>\n

Palagonia is the pseudonym used for over thirteen years by Giuseppe Monforte, a retired State Police investigator. For thirty-five years, he was a frontline state operative in the fight against the mafia, terrorism, and organized crime. He served in Sicily until 1992, when\u2014in the year of the mafia massacres\u2014he was transferred for security reasons to a northern city after receiving threats from organized crime. Throughout his career, he served on various investigative task forces dedicated to matters of significant national importance. He worked in countering mafia-related crime and domestic terrorism, investigating the alleged political masterminds behind the massacres, and managing state witnesses. He was also among the select national investigators chosen to probe the New Red Brigades, responsible for the murders of Professor Massimo D’Antona, Professor Marco Biagi, and State Police Officer Emanuele Petri. That work culminated in the October 24, 2003 raid that dismantled the terrorist cell. Throughout his career, he conducted delicate and complex operations, distinguishing himself through courage, investigative intuition, and the ability to act in the field during hazardous situations. His life was spent in constant equilibrium between duty and risk, ethics and necessity, the laws of the state and the unwritten rules of crime.<\/p>\n

The Pseudonym and Choice of Anonymity<\/strong>:
Giuseppe Monforte chose the pseudonym Gianni Palagonia to protect himself and his family. When his first novel was published and he began participating in book presentations, he appeared before the public hidden behind a partition. Even during interviews with RAI, Mediaset, and other broadcasters, his face was never shown; cameras filmed him strictly from behind. After more than thirteen years spent in anonymity, in 2020 he decided to reveal his real name and show his face publicly. The occasion was his participation as an actor in the reality show Celebrity Hunted \u2013 Caccia all’uomo<\/em>, produced by Amazon Prime Video, where he brought his real-life experience as an investigator to the screen.<\/p>\n

He has written four novels:<\/p>\n
