On Saturday, March 21<\/strong>, following the screening of the documentary film about the artist at Cinema Imperiale<\/strong> (starting at 5:30 PM<\/strong> with free admission<\/strong>), the temporary exhibition “Galeazzo Nardini. Art Strike”<\/strong> will be officially inaugurated with curator Cesare Biasini Selvaggi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Exactly fifty years since the strike began, MO.C.A. pays tribute to Galeazzo Nardini<\/strong> (1938\u20132016), an eclectic and radical figure on the international art scene, with an exhibition dedicated to his most daring and defining project: \u201cArt Strike\u201d<\/strong> (Arte Sciopero<\/em>).<\/p>\n

It was 1976<\/strong> when Galeazzo, already known for his collaborations with artists such as Ben Vautier<\/strong> and Giuseppe Chiari<\/strong>, conceived the idea of an uninterrupted artistic strike<\/strong>. This was a solitary protest against the exploitation of artists and censorship, leading him to permanently renounce the sale of his works.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, produced by Contemplazioni<\/strong>, retraces the forty years (1976\u20132016) during which Galeazzo transformed the word \u201cSTRIKE\u201d<\/strong> into a daily mantra and an extraordinary total art performance. Although he stopped selling, the artist never stopped producing: the showcase features over one hundred works<\/strong>, including canvases, cardboard, notebooks, and archival materials, where the word \u201cSTRIKE\u201d<\/strong> is expressed in every possible form and style, occupying every available surface.<\/p>\n

A section of the exhibition is also dedicated to the documentary film \u201cARTE SCIOPERO,\u201d<\/strong> a radical act of art and resistance directed by Luca Immesi<\/strong> and produced with H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Nardini<\/strong>. The film explores Galeazzo’s life, highlighting how Art Strike pervaded every aspect of his existence.<\/p>\n

Celebrating 50 years since the start of Galeazzo\u2019s strike in Montecatini<\/strong>\u2014the city where he lived and worked intensely, successfully linking Tuscany to the great international capitals of contemporary art\u2014means restoring value to an artist who made consistency and provocation<\/strong> his sole purpose in life.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
